Englefield Green is a conservation area, and the reason for it is immediately next door. The village grew against the south-eastern corner of Windsor Great Park and became a fashionable address through the 18th and 19th centuries precisely because of how close it was to Windsor.

- Trees inside a conservation area are protected whether or not they carry a preservation order, and you must give the council six weeks’ written notice before carrying out works to one. That window exists so the council can decide whether to make a Tree Preservation Order instead.
